Welcome to Mrs. Garner's 2nd Grade!

I am very eager to meet my bright-eyed,  enthusiastic group of second graders on Thursday, August 23rd!  We will be doing lots of "getting to know you" activities, as well as sharing our summer adventures and reviewing school rules and procedures.

There will be a Welcome Back assembly, and Mr. Smith will be a guest reader in our classroom as well.  I can't wait to see all the smiling faces!

                                    What's Brewing?

New to LJM this year is an open forum called "What's Brewing", in which parents are invited to school to meet with Mrs. Reinholt and Mr. Smith to have coffee and discuss any ideas, issues, or questions for one hour on a monthly basis.  The purpose is to keep the lines of communication flowing smoothly between home and school.  The first meeting is on Sept. 4th at 9:30 am.  Come and check it out!

Some important things to remember. . .

  *  Please provide me with your email address, so that we may keep in touch, and I can send a monthly newsletter your way.

  *  Please have your child wear sneakers on Physical Education day, as well as on the day we have Health.  Mr. Saylor will teach these subjects, and your child will need sneakers to enjoy some fun and healthy exercise on those days.  You will be provided with our class schedule of specials in your child's Take Home folder.

  *  Please remember to sign up for Giant A+ Rewards.  This paper, too, will be in your child's folder.  This must be done every year in order for LJM to benefit from the fantastic financial rewards that help our school in so many ways!

  *  If you wish to volunteer in the school or be a chaperone for field trips, please remember to have your security clearances up to date.

  *  Also, please remember to send a note to school with your child if the usual transportation from school changes for any reason, or if your child has an appointment and needs to be dismissed at a certain time.

Thank you for visiting my classroom blog!  Working together, we will have extraordinarily SUCCESSFUL school year!
